Datateam Business Media, the publisher of Park World Magazine, has announced the launch of the Park World Excellence Awards. Designed to celebrate brilliance across the European attractions scene, entries are now open.
Recognising the industry’s exceptional parks, rides, experiences and attractions, the inaugural Awards provides a dynamic platform for the continent’s leading park operators, suppliers, manufacturers and entertainment specialists.
“Above all, the Park World Excellence Awards is a celebration of the innovators and creative leaders that make this industry go around,” says Bryony Andrews, editor of Park World Magazine, one of the theme park industry’s original trade titles.
Those who wish to put themselves in the running for an accolade are invited to visit the Park World Excellence Awards website now and submit an entry via the simple online form.
“Our aim is to reflect cutting edge projects in parks across Europe over the past year,” adds Andrews. “With a range of different categories to encompass the diverse market, I am confident the Awards will recognise ingenuity and reward distinction across our industry – celebrating those who are pushing it forward.”
How it works
The awards are split into three sections:
The ‘Park’ awards will honour the standout theme parks, family parks and waterparks across Europe, including separate categories to highlight this year’s top seasonal event and the best new in-park show or spectacular.
Covering everything from rollercoasters to flat or spinning rides, water rides and waterslides, the ‘Ride/Attraction’ awards will showcase the industry’s innovation and imagination. Categories in this area also include ‘Media-based Attraction of the Year’, which will celebrate the best new 3D/4D/VR/AR experience, and ‘Themed Attraction of the Year’, commending a ride that has been elevated through theming to become more than just a ride system.
The ‘General’ awards meanwhile, will recognise inventive products and application of technology (through ‘Best Ticketing & Access Control Product’ and ‘Best use of Technology’), as well as those who have gone above and beyond in the quest for excellence: the ‘Industry Icon’ award will acknowledge a special individual who has served the European attractions industry with distinction.
Operators, suppliers and manufacturers may enter into any of the relevant categories online, via the dedicated Park World Excellence Awards website – for free! They can also nominate other companies and individuals for any of the awards using the same easy online form.
Following this secure online entry and nomination process, a panel of expert judges will select five finalists and the winner in each award category. Winners will then be revealed in Amsterdam on Wednesday 26 September 2018.
